Our client is at the cutting edge of the manufacturing process when it comes to next-generation, smart, composite materials. They have researched, developed, and produced one of the lightest, strongest, and most cost-effective composite materials ever created. They are currently looking for an experienced CNC Machinist. Our client has two facilities in Canning Vale which are only 5 minutes apart, they can collaborate, conceive, test and bring ideas into reality faster than any other competitor on the market.
The Machinist operates and programs machines via a controller or manually to produce precision components. The machinist is also at times asked to assist in the design stage of components and assemblies, Manufacture required components, assist in the assembly of components and other fitting tasks, carry out machine maintenance and general housekeeping.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Take inventory by checking material stock to determine availability, notify management if order is required.
  • Prepare allocated material to length.
  • Plan machining by studying engineering plans / drawings and or 3D models.
  • Create Programs for CNC Machines using attached controller to long hand or conversational program or import post program.
  • Make any modifications in machine run cycle needed for maximum tool efficiency and minimum airtime.
  • Verify settings from first-run part, examine items produced to determine if item meet specifications.
  • Maintain machines by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Meet production goals set by the production planner.
  • Seamlessly switch between multiple Jobs / Machines as other urgent tasks take priority.
  • Liaison with all other departments and assist with their needs.
  • Assist in Design and engineering.
  • Assist in Fitting and assembly.
  • Assist in hazardous composite material projects when required.
  • Experience: in Heidenhain and Fanuc controls.
  • Desirable: Mastercam experience, forklift licence and Gantry Ticket.
