ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Community Development team provides direct services to the Cumberland community. This position is responsible for leading the development, implementation and review of Council's funding programs and will utilise expert engagement skills in working with community organisations, local residents, stakeholders and Council staff to implement programs and projects.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Social Sciences or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in leading funding programs, identifying funding sources and grants management administrative procedures
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of community development and community engagement
  • Demonstrate experience in working with new and emerging communities, and working with a diverse range of groups
  • Demonstrated financial and project management skills
  • Highly developed organisation and time management skills
  • Working with Children Check Clearance
  • Current class C driver's licence.

About this role:

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
  • Located at Council's Merrylands office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,631.25 to $1,875.94 per week, plus 12% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
  • Mobile phone.

What you'll need to have for this role:

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
  • Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
