Adelaide Festival Centre operates four theatres in the Adelaide CBD – the Festival Theatre, Dunstan Playhouse, Space Theatre and the newly redeveloped Her Majesty’s Theatre.

About the vacancy

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities and the Facilities Supervisor – Show/Event, the Facilities Officers support the delivery of performances, rehearsals, hospitality services, events and functions across our venues from a Facilities perspective including Building Management System programming and attending to the fire/EWIS panel during emergency procedures as required.

Outside of these duties, general facilities tasks are performed within the scope and training of the incumbents including but not limited to preventative maintenance of mechanical plant, general repairs and fixes.

These positions will be rostered over seven days, almost exclusively on afternoons, evenings and weekends in line with venue activity.

Responsibilities

Regularly monitor and inspect machinery, safety equipment and chemicals to ensure machinery is working safely and chemicals are stored per work health and safety regulations.

Undertake minor on-the-spot repairs and fixes as necessary, within level of skills, experience and competence.

Report, isolate and make safe areas as necessary pending trades attendance, including but not limited to cooling towers, chillers, air handling units, compressors, pneumatic electrical/controls, exhaust fans, fire systems, FIPs and associated motors, valves and pumps and irrigation systems.

Utilise and monitor Building Maintenance System using relevant software program.

Provide outstanding customer service daily by demonstrating respect, listening to and working with our customers, both internal and external, to achieve positive outcomes, where possible.

Competencies and Skills

General handyperson or maintenance experience in a customer focussed environment.

Ability to work in a team and work cooperatively with other staff, supervisors/managers, coordinators, contractors and visiting companies.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and direct contractors as necessary.

Prepared to work in confined spaces and at height.

Ability to work carefully, methodically and safely.

Ability to follow technical drawings and building plans

Successful completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
