About the Department for Correctional Services
The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Duties
The Senior Information Release Officer is accountable to the Manager Freedom of Information and Stakeholder Services and is responsible for:

Processing Freedom of Information (FOI) applications, including Internal Reviews and External Reviews, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1991.

Facilitating and meeting the departments' responsibilities under the Freedom of Information Act 1991, Correctional Services Act 1982, Information Privacy Principals, government circulars, court orders and associated legislation.

Supervising staff in the processing of Release of Information (ROI) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests consistent with legislative requirements.

Providing expert advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders while ensuring legislative, recording, and reporting requirements are met and undertaking research, policy, and project work when required.

Special Conditions

Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.

The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check.

A current South Australian Drivers Licence is essential.

A flexible approach to working hours is required.

Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.

Entry to secure facilities (e.g. prisons) and contact with prisoners and community based offenders is required.
