Job Title: Lead Teacher – 3-Year-Old Preschool Program
Location: Sturt Street Children’s Centre
Position Overview
The Lead Teacher for the 3-Year-Old Preschool Program is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a high-quality, play-based early childhood curriculum for children aged three. This leadership role ensures the delivery of educational programs in alignment with the National Quality Framework (NQF), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and Centre policies. The Lead Teacher will work collaboratively with educators, families, and the wider community to provide an inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development:
Design and deliver a play-based curriculum aligned with the EYLF that promotes the holistic development of three-year-old children.
Program Leadership:
Lead and support a team of educators in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of learning experiences. Model best practice in early childhood pedagogy, and mentor educators as needed.
Child Development:
Observe, assess, and document children’s learning and development, using this information to inform programming and communicate progress to families.
Family Engagement:
Build respectful and collaborative relationships with families. Promote positive family involvement in the program and provide relevant information about children’s learning.
Inclusion and Wellbeing:
Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that upholds children’s rights, safety, and wellbeing.
Compliance and Administration:
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and funding requirements, maintain accurate records, and follow the Centre's policies and procedures.
Professional Development:
Participate in ongoing professional learning, reflect critically on own practice, and contribute to the Centre’s continuous improvement processes.
Key Selection Criteria
Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or equivalent ACECQA-approved qualification).
Teacher registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.
Demonstrated experience in early childhood education, preferably with three-year-old children.
In-depth knowledge of the EYLF, NQF, and child development.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with children, families, and colleagues.
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and relevant first aid qualifications.
