Transitional Centre Worker

Year 1-8

Location - Bolwara Transitional Centre - Emu Plains

Employment Type - Ongoing position

Salary - $84,659pa - $110,271pa plus superannuation

Your role

Corrective Services are currently seeking a Transitional Centre Workers to work across a rotating roster at their Bolwara Transitional Centre in Emu Plains.

What you'll do

As part of this role, the successful applicants must be willing to deliver a high level of support and assistance to female residents within the centres including by providing clear and accessible channels of communication, counselling, negotiation and assessment services on a range of family, social and legal issues to contribute to the transition from correctional to post-release living.

Within this role you will be escorting residents to necessary appointments, job interviews, assisting residents find employment, supporting residents in re-developing social and housekeeping skills, maintain strict confidentiality in record keeping relating to admission and discharge of residents, develop professional relationship with the residents and promote an environment of mutual trust, empathy and understanding, assist with the development of case plans and engage with community Stakeholders.

This a female specific role, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are encouraged to apply!

What we're looking for

  • Current First Aid Certificate or the willingness to obtain one prior to the commencement of employment.
  • Must be willing to undertake shift work in a rotating roster, be willing to work on a rotating 24-hour 7-day roster
  • A Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain as required
  • Successful completion of the Security Awareness and Management of Female offenders training course.
  • Current driver's licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle
  • Formal post-secondary educational qualifications and experience in welfare related work or social science environment, or significant experience gained by working in that area is highly desirable
