Senior Group Accountant - Live Music and Hospitality Industry
Are you a seasoned Chartered Accountant looking to escape the grind of public practice and dive into a dynamic role in an independent Group with revenues in excess of $100M?
Destroy All Lines (DAL) and The Happy Horsemen (HH) are looking for a Senior Group Accountant to join our team. We're a fast-paced entertainment and hospitality group that's passionate about live music, food, and culture. If you're ready to leave the world of public practice and apply your skills to a business you can truly help build, this is the opportunity for you.
Who We Are
Destroy All Lines is Australia and New Zealand's largest independent tour promoter, with over 22 years in the business. We're behind festivals like Good Things, Monolith and Knotfest, and we provide end-to-end touring services for artists and their teams. See www.destroyalllines.com
The Happy Horsemen has been a leader in the Australian experiential entertainment sector for over a decade. We create and manage vibrant spaces - including music venues, bars, and restaurants - that bring diverse communities together. See www.thehappyhorsemen.com
With a combined group revenue of over $100M and a team of more than 100 people, we pride ourselves on being reliable, adaptable, and a bit rebellious. Our success is built on DIY ethics and marching to the beat of our own drum, and we’re all about bringing great people together to create unforgettable experiences.
The Role
As our Senior Group Accountant, you'll be at the heart of our financial operations. You'll work closely with our three Directors, managing the monthly financial close process, preparing consolidated financial statements, and overseeing budgeting and forecasting.
Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the monthly financial close process and preparing monthly financial statements.
Preparing consolidated financial statements for the group.
Managing budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis.
Assisting with compliance reporting for ATO, NZ IRD, and local SROs.
Engaging in ad-hoc financial tasks and internal reporting.
Working with us to improve our information systems to gain better reporting efficiencies and insights.
You'll need strong initiative, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. We're based in Melbourne but have offices in Sydney and Brisbane, and we fully support a flexible hybrid work model - your location won't be a barrier.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a motivated and adaptable Chartered Accountant with:
Australian Work Rights
Full and current membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ).
A minimum of five years of experience in a Tier 1 or 2 CA firm, preferably in business services, taxation, or management consulting.
Ability to work with MacOS
Proficiency in ERP software (we use MYOB Acumatica) and MS Excel.
Strong financial modelling and budgeting experience.
The ability to extract and analyse data from various systems like Square, Deputy etc.
A knack for working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meeting tight deadlines.
An autonomous and reliable work ethic.
Strong resilience and ability to multi-task and prioritise.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a team-player attitude.
Passion for live music, food, and hospitality.
This is a new role that you can truly make your own. We believe in learning on the job and will provide strong support as you transition from practice to industry. We'll empower you with opportunities and exposure that will help you grow your capabilities and confidence.
Remuneration and Benefits
We anticipate a salary between $140k to $160k + super, commensurate with your experience and the value you bring to the group.
You'll also receive:
A work-from-home and telephone allowance.
Free tickets to DAL-promoted tours (from James Blunt to Slipknot to Kesha!).
Discounts at all Happy Horsemen venues.
Reimbursement for your annual CAANZ membership fees.
If you value work-life balance, a down-to-earth company culture, and the chance to make a direct impact on an independent business - you might just be the unicorn we're looking for, and we can’t wait to hear from you! This is a life changing opportunity for the right person.
