Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.

Prepare accurate financial reports, management statements, and periodic cash flow forecasts.

Develop and manage annual budgets and provide financial planning support to executive leadership.

Monitor financial performance against budget, identify variances, and recommend corrective action.

Establish, review, and improve internal controls, financial systems, and accounting procedures.

Ensure full compliance with Australian taxation laws, accounting standards, and regulatory frameworks.

Provide strategic advice on investment decisions, cost control, and resource allocation to support business growth.

Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, financial institutions, and government authorities as needed.

Supervise finance team members and contribute to performance evaluations, training, and development.

Conduct financial risk assessments and recommend policies for risk mitigation and long-term stability.

Skills and Attributes

Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret and act on financial data.

High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain complex financial concepts in a clear, accessible manner.

Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Proficiency in financial and accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.

Ability to work independently and contribute proactively to a small but dynamic team environment.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential.

Minimum 1-2 year of professional experience in a finance, accounting, or bookkeeping role.

Knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements.

CPA/CA qualification (or in progress) is desirable but not mandatory.
