We’re built on the values of Safety, Integrity, Quality and Innovation and we’re looking for a skilled Welder to join our Tullamarine workshop and contribute to our growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Welder with APS, you’ll work from drawings, specifications and welding procedures and weld components and structures. You’ll be expected to maintain high standards of workmanship, support a safe workshop environment, and collaborate with fabrication and project teams.

Your proven ability to uphold these standards will be a key factor in your success within our organisation.

Key duties include:

Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication plans and welding procedure specifications.

Perform welding operations using MIG, welding techniques on mild steel.

Prepare materials: cutting, grinding, removal of defects, fit-up, tack-weld and finishing work.

Inspect your own welds, ensure compliance with company quality/acceptance criteria, flag any non-conformances.

Ability to undertake fillet and butt welds in horizontal and vertical positions.

Maintain, clean and safely use welding equipment and PPE; ensure equipment is used correctly and safely.

Work collaboratively with fabricators, and other trades to ensure components are correctly aligned, assembled and fixed.

Maintain workshop housekeeping, follow safe work practices, participate in toolbox talks and support a strong safety culture.

Occasional overtime may be required.

What You’ll Bring

Trade certificate or qualification as a Welder / Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication or equivalent.

Proven experience as a Welder in an industrial/fabrication environment.

Demonstrated ability in welding production and fabrication tasks and familiarity with reading drawings and welding procedures.

Strong commitment to safety, equipment maintenance and quality standards.

Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.

Highly Desirable:

Experience in a structural steel environment.

Experience working in a workshop that services industrial plants or construction sectors.

Additional tickets (e.g., welding test certifications, White Card, forklift licence) or willingness to obtain.
