About the role

The Residential Services Manager is responsible for the leadership, management, and development of high-quality, person-centered care and services at a Southern Cross Care facility. This includes ensuring all Aged Care Accreditation Requirements are met across the Aged Care Standards:

  • Manage, Lead & Develop High Quality Person Centred Care And Services: This involves supporting Care Managers and direct reports in implementing programs (AN-ACC maximisation, quality, infection control, WHS, Clinical Governance), overseeing daily operations (hotel services, maintenance, administration, lifestyle, personal and clinical care), identifying improvement opportunities, evaluating care outcomes, ensuring appropriate resourcing and skills mix, and overseeing performance reviews. It also includes representing the facility on committees, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, overseeing quality improvement, developing a regional focus, and managing change.
  • People, Financial Management, Continuous Improvement, Strategic Planning and Culture: This encompasses supporting efficient management of staff, financial, and material resources, ensuring staff understanding of roles through policies and training, fostering staff development via performance management, achieving financial targets, implementing SCC's values and strategic plan, fostering partnerships, and leading the development and review of business plans. It also involves implementing evidence-based care policies and practices through the Clinical Governance Framework.
  • Manager WHS Obligations: Ensure staff and others work safely and healthily, use provided WHS equipment, obey instructions, and comply with WHS policies.

About you

  • Essential Qualifications: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent, current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
  • Essential Experience: Demonstrated success in managing nursing and care services.
  • Essential Skills: Leadership, customer focus, ability to manage expectations, team leadership, strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills, commitment to excellence, political savvy, professional and ethical conduct, change management skills, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity, role model/mentor, and proficient computer skills.
  • Essential Knowledge: Understanding of issues for elderly people, their families, and carers.
  • Personal Attributes: Fit with work culture and commitment to SCC's Values & Better for Life model, person-centered customer service, personal resilience, results-oriented approach, and flexibility for occasional out-of-hours work.
  • Desirable Requirements: Management experience in Aged Care, post-graduate studies in gerontology.
