Practice Nurse - Immunisation Clinic

Permanent Part-Time (1 day per week with potential to increase)

Rate: $35-$50 per hour

Our midwifery-led model ensures continuity of care, with the same dedicated team supporting each patient throughout pregnancy and after birth.

Position Overview

The Practice Nurse - Immunisation Clinic supports Western Obstetrics in delivering safe, efficient, and patient centred immunisation services.

The Practice Nurse will coordinate, administer, and record vaccinations in accordance with WA Health and Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) requirements, ensuring best-practice standards in infection control, cold chain management, and patient care.

Initially, this role will be one day per week with potential to increase in the future.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Administer vaccinations safely and in accordance with clinical guidelines.

Maintain accurate records in the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) and patient management systems.

Conduct pre-immunisation assessments and provide education to patients and families.

Monitor and manage adverse reactions or complications in line with clinical protocols.

Ensure cold chain integrity, storage, and monitoring of vaccines per WA Health standards.

Prepare and manage immunisation stock, including ordering and reconciliation.

Support quality improvement activities related to immunisation services.

Operational Duties

Coordinate and manage immunisation clinics, currently one day per week (potential to expand as demand grows).

Maintain accurate patient and clinic documentation, including daily reporting.

Collaborate with reception and midwifery staff to optimise patient flow and appointment scheduling.

Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols.

Team & Communication

Work collaboratively with obstetricians, midwives, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care.

Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive and supportive clinic environment.

Provide professional advice on immunisation practices and process improvements.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).

Current WA Immunisation Certificate of Competency (or willingness to obtain).

Current CPR and Anaphylaxis Management certification.

Evidence of up-to-date vaccinations as per WA Health policy.

Current Police Clearance

Working With Children Check

Demonstrated experience in immunisation delivery and cold chain management.

Strong communication and patient education skills.

Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping.

Desirable

Experience in women’s health, antenatal, or family health settings.

Familiarity with Best Practice, Genie, or similar clinical software.

Previous experience in a private practice or GP clinic environment.
