Join a pioneering engineering team developing next-generation autonomous and energy systems. We’re seeking a Systems Engineer who thrives on complex challenges, cutting-edge technology, and real-world impact. You’ll play a key role in designing, testing, deploying and implementing advanced automation and control solutions across major industrial projects.
About the role:
You’ll take ownership of systems engineering activities spanning design, integration, and verification. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll ensure all systems meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements while driving best practice and innovation across the business.
- Leading Australian resources and energy company
- Contract until EOFY (30/06/2026), to be extended or convert to FTE
- $95-125/hr + super ($187-280k annual package)
- Monday – Friday, 40hrs/week
- Perth CBD office + WFH
What you’ll be doing each day:
Requirements Engineering
- Elicit and analyze all levels of requirements for autonomy related systems including energy management.
- Lead development of and manage adherence to formats developed for requirement artifacts.
- Assist in the delivery of design and verification of software and hardware components for autonomous systems.
Hardware Engineering
- Lead selection, procurement and integration of various technologies such as sensors, computes, routers and other machinery, including communication protocols into a cohesive system.
- Liaise with multiple suppliers and identify multiple candidates before assessing the best candidate for a replacement to existing hardware or a new solution.
- Stay up to date on the latest technologies and trends.
Design Engineering
- Deliver system design interfaces, specifications, and procedures, in agreed format.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Domain squad, product development, and other stakeholders.
- Lead development of and adherence to the systems model.
V&V Engineering
- Development and/or review of test plans and test cases for major campaigns.
- Review of requirements to ensure verifiability.
- Lead verification campaigns and drive development teams for resolution of bugs prioritized with respect to safety and schedule.
What you’ll need to be successful in the role:
- Full Australian working rights.
- 5+ years’ experience in systems engineering or related discipline.
- Strong grasp of systems engineering principles & methodologies, control theory, functional safety, safety in design and security in design.
- Experience with SysML, embedded systems, real-time operating systems and communication protocols (CAN bus, Ethernet).
- Skilled in N2 chart development and system interaction mapping.
- RF experience will be highly regarded.
- Experience in mining is highly regarded.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
