About the Role

We are seeking a qualified OSHC Educator who will also take on the role of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer.
This dual role combines hands-on engagement with children in our before and after school and vacation care programs, alongside dedicated administration time to support the service’s health, safety, and compliance systems.

The successful candidate will be a proactive team member who thrives in a collaborative environment, values safety and wellbeing, and is passionate about continuous improvement in practice.

Key Responsibilities

As an OSHC Educator:

- Supervise and actively engage with children in a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment.

- Plan and implement play-based and intentional learning experiences aligned with My Time, Our Place .

- Build strong, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

- Contribute to documentation, critical reflection, and continuous improvement processes.

As the Occupational Health & Safety Officer:

- Oversee and maintain the service’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) systems, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies.

- Support the coordination of emergency procedures and drills.

- Maintain up-to-date safety registers, training records, and hazard reports.

- Liaise with the Director, Compliance and Quality Officer, and management team to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement in safety practices.

- Receive allocated administration time each week to complete OHS-related tasks, documentation, and reporting.

Additional Key Responsibility:

Be willing to be authorised as a Responsible Person for the service once fully orientated and approved by management.

About You

You are a motivated and detail-oriented educator who values both the care and safety of children and staff. You enjoy working in a supportive team environment and take initiative in upholding high-quality, compliant, and safe practices.

Essential Requirements:

- Minimum Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, School Age Education and Care, or equivalent (ACEQA approved).

- Current Working with Children Check.

- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certifications (or willing to maintain)

- Knowledge of Work Health and Safety requirements within education and care settings.

- Strong understanding of the My Time, Our Place Framework, NQF, and NQS.

- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisation skills.

- Demonstrated ability to complete documentation, audits, and administrative tasks with accuracy.

Desirable:

- Previous experience in a Health and Safety or Compliance role within an education and care service.

- Child Protection / Mandatory Reporting training.
