Sisters in the City, a leading queer and nurse owned NDIS provider in Southeast Queensland, is seeking compassionate and dedicated Enrolled or Registered Nurses to join our team in a unique and rewarding role. We specialise in providing high-quality care for individuals with complex needs, with a strong focus on mental health recovery and general community nursing.
We are seeking experienced candidates with mental health experience; however, we also welcome applications from new graduates and nurses with no prior experience - we believe in fostering skills and supporting professional growth.
Please note that shifts are usually 2 to 4 hours long.
About the Role
As a nurse with Sisters in the City, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of our clients, particularly those with complex medical and mental health needs. This community-based role involves supporting clients in their homes as they transition to independent living.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive nursing care, including complex bowel care procedures such as digital rectal stimulation and enema administration
Support clients recovering from mental health conditions, including transitions from hospital to community living
Assist with personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming)
Perform household tasks (cleaning, laundry, dishwashing) to maintain a hygienic environment
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement person-centred care plans
Administer medications and monitor health status
Provide education and support to clients and families
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and report changes in condition
Essential Requirements
Current registration with AHPRA (without restrictions) as an Enrolled or Registered Nurse
Willingness to perform a wide range of duties, including personal care and household tasks
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Current Blue Card or ability to obtain one
Current NDIS Worker Screening or ability to obtain one
Current First Aid and CPR certification (hospital qualifications accepted)
Completed or willingness to complete the NDIS Worker Orientation module
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Desirable Qualifications
Experience supporting individuals with complex mental health conditions
Experience in complex bowel care procedures
Experience in disability services or community mental health
NDIS experience
Mental Health First Aid certification
