We are seeking a technically strong and commercially minded Accountant to join their high-calibre finance team on a 12 month Maternity leave contract. This role is crucial in supporting the Country Controller and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting across the ANZ region.

About the role:

Reporting to the Country Controller, you will be responsible for a wide range of financial and management accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with both local and US reporting standards. You will work closely with offshore teams and various internal stakeholders to drive accuracy and efficiency.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Ensuring the month-end close and all relevant reporting are completed accurately and within strict US reporting deadlines.

Preparing annual IFRS compliant financial statements.

Supporting the timely preparation of all statutory returns, including GST, FBT, and income tax.

Reviewing journals and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the offshore accounting team.

Performing complex accounting tasks, including lease accounting, impairment assessments, and other provisions as required under local and US GAAP.

Performing and monitoring SOX controls and ensuring strict adherence to REIT compliance.

Collaborating with the FP&A team to provide analytical data that supports business operations.

Supporting both internal and external audit processes.

Assisting with financial support for all M&A activities.

Supporting the regional controller with consolidated reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate:

To be successful in this role, you will be a CA/CPA qualified (or near-qualified) accountant with a strong technical background. You will also have:

Proven experience in a similar role within a large, complex, multinational (preferably US-listed) environment.

Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP.

Experience with SOX compliance is highly desirable.

Experience working collaboratively with offshore/shared services teams.

The ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
