With expansion comes new opportunities and as such we are recruiting for a Group Payroll Manager to join this thriving business.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned payroll professional who is passionate about operational excellence, people and compliance to lead a highly experienced team with long tenures who provide a stable and capable foundation to lead from. You’ll have the scope to influence payroll strategy, drive process improvements, and play a key role within the senior leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for 2000 + team members using Dayforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Ensure timely and accurate submissions to the ATO, including Single Touch Payroll (STP) and other statutory reporting
• Oversee superannuation, leave, termination payments, workers' compensation, and employment-related tax obligations
• Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and bank and provide accurate reporting and payroll analysis to key stakeholders
• Lead, coach, and support a team of six payroll professionals, driving performance and continuous development
• Maintain and improve payroll systems, processes, and controls to enhance accuracy and efficiency
• Collaborate with HR, IT, and Finance to deliver process improvements and system upgrades
• Provide timely support for employee payroll queries, ensuring a high standard of customer service

The preferred Candidate

• Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a payroll team in a high-volume environment, ideally within retail or multi-site operations
• Strong understanding of employment legislation, Awards, and Enterprise Agreements
• Proven leadership skills with experience in coaching and developing payroll teams
• Experience working with payroll and time and attendance systems, Dayforce experience highly advantageous
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for payroll reporting and analysis
• Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail under tight deadlines
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in payroll, finance, human resources, or a related discipline are highly desirable
