Infrastructure Engineer - Permanent - 130-150K + Super - Sydney
Our client is a leading Healthcare business based in Sydney, known for its strong growth potential in tech and fast paced culture.. With a focus on innovation, they are hiring an Infrastructure Engineer for key projects and uplifts.
Responsibilities
- Managing Infrastructure: Oversee and maintain the Windows-based server and infrastructure, ensuring optimal availability, scalability, and security of the systems.
- Providing Domain Expertise: Offer deep expertise in Windows Server technologies and related systems, guiding troubleshooting and solutions in areas like Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and IIS.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting Systems: Continuously monitor the performance and health of Windows servers, identifying potential issues, troubleshooting, and resolving them to minimize downtime.
- Streamlining Operations with Automation: Develop and implement automation solutions, such as PowerShell scripts, to streamline server management tasks, optimize resource utilization, and reduce manual processes.
- Leading Incident Response: Manage responses to critical incidents within the Windows server environment, ensuring quick resolution, identifying root causes, and applying preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
- Collaborating Across Teams: Work closely with other IT teams—such as developers, security specialists, and network engineers—to ensure server infrastructure is well-integrated with broader technology goals.
- Documenting and Sharing Knowledge: Maintain detailed documentation for Windows server configurations, troubleshooting steps, and operational processes, and share knowledge across teams to improve efficiency.
- Ensuring Security and Compliance: Ensure Windows server systems are compliant with internal security policies and external regulations. Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening.
- Planning Capacity and Performance: Analyze server performance and usage trends, providing recommendations for scaling and resource management to ensure systems meet business demands.
Duties
Manage and optimise Windows and Azure-based infrastructure, ensuring reliability and scalability
- Implement and maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and networking configurations
- Support hybrid cloud integrations and automation through PowerShell and Azure tools
- Lead incident management, system patching, and security hardening activities
- Collaborate across IT functions to deliver seamless infrastructure operations
Skills and experience
- Solid experience in infrastructure engineering or systems administration
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2016–2022), Active Directory, and virtualisation (Hyper-V)
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, including IaaS, networking, and identity services
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals—VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPNs
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation
- Exposure to backup, DR, and endpoint security tools
- Strong troubleshooting skills and collaborative mindset
