Ellett Contracting are seeking experienced Leading Hand Carpenters.

This role is offered on a full-time salary of $150,000>$160,000 + super on all hours worked and allowances when away overnight. Standard work hours are 6am to 6pm onsite, 6:30am-4:30pm workshop

Main Function of Position

Supervise and execute carpentry works on the fabrication, installation and maintenance of transportable buildings to agricultural sites in regional WA. The Leading Hand will ensure high-quality workmanship, compliance with construction drawings and specifications, and adherence to HSEQ standards.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

· Interpret and implement construction drawings, technical specifications, and site plans.

· Lead the construction and installation of modular structures, including internal fit-out, cladding, and framing works.

· Undertake formwork and steel fixing operations, ensuring dimensional accuracy and structural compliance.

· Oversee concrete pours, finishing, and curing to meet engineering tolerances and finish quality standards.

· Manage on-site logistics, including material scheduling, equipment allocation, and workforce coordination.

· Direct and supervise tradespeople, apprentices, and subcontractors, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently.

· Conduct quality assurance inspections, identify defects, and implement corrective measures.

· Liaise with Project Supervisors and Project Managers to support construction sequencing, technical queries, and site readiness.

· Assist Mechanical and Civil teams in integrated project delivery, including set-out and structural works.

· Promote and enforce strict HSEQ compliance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Qualifications/Licences

· Trade certification in Carpentry

· C Class Drivers Licence

· White Card

Desirable Qualifications/Licences

· RIIMPO301E – Conduct Hydraulic Excavator Operations

· RIIMPO318E – Conduct Skid Steer Loader Operations

· CPCCLRG3001A – Licence to perform rigging – Basic

· TLILIC0003 – Forklift Truck Operations

· TLILIC0005 – Licence to Operate Boom – Type Elevating Work Platform

· RIIWHS202D – Enter and Work in Confined Spaces

· MR or HR Class Drivers Licence

Competencies, Skills and Experience

· Minimum five (5) years’ trade qualified experience

· Proven capability in leading teams onsite

· Skilled in formwork, framing, concrete ad transportable construction methods

· Proficient in concrete placement, levelling and finishing or supervising concrete crews

· Strong understanding of civil earthworks and site preparation activities

· Strong problem solving, coordination and communications skills

· Proactive safety culture

· Ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

HSEQ Responsibilities and Accountabilities

· Adhere to all Ellett Contracting HSEQ Policies and Procedures

· Conduct and document daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, and risk assessments

· Work in a safe manner at all times and immediately report all incidents, hazards or near misses to a Manager or Supervisor

· Complete pre-start checks correctly and report any damage or repairs immediately to the Manager or Supervisor
