We are a proudly Australian poultry farm supplying fresh, high-quality eggs to our customers every day. To support our growth and independence, we are seeking a Food Technologist to lead the research and development of on-farm chicken feed formulations for laying hens and growing pullets.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to apply your food science expertise in a hands-on farming environment. You will be responsible for researching and developing feed formulas that optimise bird health, welfare, and egg production. Working closely with the farm team, you’ll ensure feeds meet nutritional standards, are safe, and consistently support high-quality egg output.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct experiments and tests on raw materials to assess nutritional and chemical composition.

• Research and develop feed formulations tailored to laying hens for optimal egg quality and productivity.

• Analyse and test the reliability of feed performance under different environmental and production conditions.

• Translate research findings into practical applications for daily feed production.

• Advise on the sourcing, processing, storage, and delivery of feed ingredients.

• Establish and monitor quality control and food safety standards for on-farm feed manufacture.

• Develop and implement packaging and presentation guidelines to ensure eggs and related products meet quality, branding, and regulatory standards.

• Prepare technical reports, product specifications, and compliance documentation.

• Provide guidance and training to the farm team in feed production and quality assurance processes.

About You

• Bachelor degree (or higher) in Food Technology, Food Science, Animal Nutrition, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).

• Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience in food formulation, animal feed, or agricultural research.

• Strong understanding of poultry nutrition and food safety systems.

• Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving and data interpretation skills.

• Ability to translate research outcomes into practical, on-farm solutions.
