Based in a state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne’s north, we’re expanding our New Product Development team and looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Food Technologist to help drive innovation and growth.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, this full-time role offers autonomy and variety, working across all stages of product development—from concept to launch. You’ll be part of a small, collaborative team focused on creating value-added food products for the Australian market.
Key Responsibilities:
· Recipe development and refinement for new and existing products
· Managing NPD projects from concept through to full-scale manufacturing
· Sensory evaluation and analysis of trial and existing products
· Preparation of bench samples and coordination of factory trials
· Development and maintenance of product specifications and documentation
· Ensuring compliance with FSANZ regulations and food safety standards
· Collaborating with internal teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring a mix of technical expertise, creativity, and a genuine passion for food.
Essential Requirements:
Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in food manufacturing product development
Previous experience in pasta manufacturing, including handling, processing, and packaging of fresh pasta products.
Hands-on experience in the production of pasta and sauces within a food manufacturing environment.
Experience in batch production, quality control, and food safety standards related to pasta and sauce manufacturing.
Demonstrated experience in preparing and handling a variety of pasta dishes and sauces.
Strong understanding of pasta types, cooking techniques, and sauce pairings.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Food Science or related field
Full working rights in Australia
Strong knowledge of FSANZ regulations, HACCP, and food safety standards
Experience with specification documentation (e.g., PIFs, Coles Fusion)
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Proficiency with contemporary business tools and systems
Preferred:
Valid driver’s license
Ability to commence within 4 weeks of offer
