HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

Salary: Competitive and based on experience

Location: Perth CBD

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a supportive and inclusive environment, where your interpersonal skills and commitment to nurturing positive workplace relationships will be highly valued.

  • Enjoy flexible working opportunities that support your work-life balance and personal commitments, allowing you to thrive both professionally and personally.
  • Be part of an inclusive workplace culture that values compassion, empathy, and collaboration, where your contributions are recognised and celebrated by supportive leadership.

What you'll do:

As a Human Resources Officer based in Perth CBD, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of all HR functions within the organisation. Your day-to-day activities will involve supporting employees through every stage of their journey - from recruitment right through to ongoing development - while also assisting managers with key people processes.

  • Provide comprehensive support across all aspects of human resources administration, including recruitment, on boarding, payroll coordination, and employee record management.
  • Assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with current legislation and best practice standards.
  • Act as a key point of contact for staff queries regarding HR matters, offering guidance with sensitivity and professionalism while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Support managers with performance review processes by preparing documentation, tracking deadlines, and facilitating constructive feedback sessions.
  • Coordinate learning and development initiatives by organising training sessions, maintaining attendance records, and evaluating programme effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the delivery of employee engagement activities such as wellness programmes, recognition schemes, and social events that foster a sense of community within the organisation.
  • Prepare accurate reports on HR metrics including turnover rates, absenteeism trends, and workforce demographics for management review.
  • Assist in managing employee relations issues by providing advice on policies, conducting investigations where required, and supporting resolution processes in a fair manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment law changes to ensure organisational compliance and proactively communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
  • Participate in projects aimed at enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging throughout the workplace.

What you bring:

To excel as a Human Resources Officer in this setting, you will bring proven experience supporting HR operations within complex organisations. Your background should include hands-on involvement with core HR processes such as recruitment administration, policy implementation, payroll support, or learning coordination.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a human resources function within a medium or large organisation where you have supported both employees and management teams.
  • A strong understanding of Australian employment legislation combined with practical experience applying HR policies in real-world scenarios.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable you to explain complex information clearly while showing empathy towards others' concerns.
  • Outstanding organisational abilities with proven attention to detail when managing multiple priorities or handling confidential data securely.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) alongside HR information systems or databases for efficient record keeping.
  • A collaborative approach that allows you to work effectively as part of a team while also building positive relationships across departments.
  • Experience coordinating recruitment campaigns including drafting job adverts, screening candidates, arranging interviews, and supporting onboarding processes.
  • Ability to facilitate training sessions or workshops that encourage participation from diverse groups of employees.
  • A commitment to continuous learning demonstrated by staying up to date with industry trends or pursuing relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Previous exposure to employee relations matters such as conflict resolution or grievance handling would be advantageous but not essential.
