What you'll do:
As a Human Resources Officer based in Perth CBD, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of all HR functions within the organisation. Your day-to-day activities will involve supporting employees through every stage of their journey - from recruitment right through to ongoing development - while also assisting managers with key people processes.
- Provide comprehensive support across all aspects of human resources administration, including recruitment, on boarding, payroll coordination, and employee record management.
- Assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with current legislation and best practice standards.
- Act as a key point of contact for staff queries regarding HR matters, offering guidance with sensitivity and professionalism while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Support managers with performance review processes by preparing documentation, tracking deadlines, and facilitating constructive feedback sessions.
- Coordinate learning and development initiatives by organising training sessions, maintaining attendance records, and evaluating programme effectiveness.
- Contribute to the delivery of employee engagement activities such as wellness programmes, recognition schemes, and social events that foster a sense of community within the organisation.
- Prepare accurate reports on HR metrics including turnover rates, absenteeism trends, and workforce demographics for management review.
- Assist in managing employee relations issues by providing advice on policies, conducting investigations where required, and supporting resolution processes in a fair manner.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment law changes to ensure organisational compliance and proactively communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
- Participate in projects aimed at enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging throughout the workplace.
What you bring:
To excel as a Human Resources Officer in this setting, you will bring proven experience supporting HR operations within complex organisations. Your background should include hands-on involvement with core HR processes such as recruitment administration, policy implementation, payroll support, or learning coordination.
- Demonstrated experience working in a human resources function within a medium or large organisation where you have supported both employees and management teams.
- A strong understanding of Australian employment legislation combined with practical experience applying HR policies in real-world scenarios.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable you to explain complex information clearly while showing empathy towards others' concerns.
- Outstanding organisational abilities with proven attention to detail when managing multiple priorities or handling confidential data securely.
- Proficiency using Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) alongside HR information systems or databases for efficient record keeping.
- A collaborative approach that allows you to work effectively as part of a team while also building positive relationships across departments.
- Experience coordinating recruitment campaigns including drafting job adverts, screening candidates, arranging interviews, and supporting onboarding processes.
- Ability to facilitate training sessions or workshops that encourage participation from diverse groups of employees.
- A commitment to continuous learning demonstrated by staying up to date with industry trends or pursuing relevant professional development opportunities.
- Previous exposure to employee relations matters such as conflict resolution or grievance handling would be advantageous but not essential.
