About the role

The City of Greater Dandenong Libraries are seeking a permanent full time Library Service Officer (Programs and Support) to join the professional and friendly team working across our various branches at Dandenong and Springvale Library and our new library lounge at Keysborough Community Hub.

About you

The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for learning in a fast-paced environment and be motivated to engage and deliver an excellent customer experience and service to the community. An understanding and demonstrated experience of current technologies and willingness to embrace and explore emerging technologies relevant to libraries is essential.

The primary objectives of the position are to:

· Actively engage and provide a friendly and personalised library and information service to all library users on a rostered basis during library opening hours at specified locations.

· Support and assist the community in the use of equipment and technology including computers, mobile phones, photocopiers, wireless internet access, online resources, library apps and resources.

· Support the delivery of high-quality programs for adults, including young adults, to support learning, literacy, and social inclusion.

· Undertake library tasks as required including assisting with study rooms, recording booth and game console bookings, program bookings, promotion of our services and contribute to the maintenance of the collection through shelving and perfect ordering.

· Regular evening and weekend shifts are compulsory.

Skills and Experience required for this position are:

· Demonstrated customer service experience with an understanding of positive customer service principles.

· Experience working in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment.

· Well-developed Information Technology skills, including experience in troubleshooting of computer and mobile technologies and the online environment.

· Experience in delivering programs to young adults and adults, from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

· A current Working with Children Check.

· A current Victorian Driver's licence.
