General Manager - WA | Perth-Based | Package of up to $300k + Super inc. Vehicle/Allowance + Bonuses.

The Company:

This organisation is a leader in sustainable waste and resource management, providing innovative solutions that reduce landfill use and promote environmental responsibility. With operations spanning multiple states, it focuses on recycling, composting, and specialist treatment services for commercial, council, and household customers. Its facilities are designed to recover valuable materials, transform organic waste into nutrient-rich compost, and support land rehabilitation projects, all while aligning with strong environmental, social, and governance commitments.

In Perth, the business extends its integrated services to local communities and industries, offering tailored waste management and recycling solutions. These operations contribute to reducing the environmental footprint in Western Australia by diverting waste from landfill and producing high-quality composts and mulches under a separate brand. By combining advanced processing methods with a strong focus on education and sustainability, the company plays a key role in supporting greener practices and helping Perth move toward a more circular economy

The Role:

The General Manager position is a pivotal appointment, reporting directly to the CEO and entrusted with the full responsibility of site operations. The role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on operational leadership, ensuring that waste disposal, landfill, transport, and recycling services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in compliance with environmental regulations. Beyond operational excellence, the position demands strong financial acumen, people leadership, and the ability to foster enduring relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a long-serving business that is central to Western Australia's sustainability agenda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership - Set direction, define operational goals, and align initiatives with corporate priorities.
  • Operational Oversight - Manage all aspects of waste disposal, landfill, transport, and recycling processes.
  • Team Development - Lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve high performance.
  • Continuous Improvement - Drive innovation, process optimisation, and safety culture across operations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Build strong partnerships with clients, suppliers, regulators, and internal teams.
  • Financial Accountability - Oversee budgets, monitor KPIs, and ensure sustainable financial performance.
  • Technical & Environmental Services - Design and implement robust systems for compliance and environmental stewardship.
  • Human Resource Management - Handle performance management, staff development, grievances, and discipline.
  • Reporting & Governance - Deliver accurate management reports and ensure adherence to legislation and service standards.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a strategic and operational leader with proven experience in the waste management, environmental services, or broader industrial sectors. They will bring a strong track record of managing complex operations, driving continuous improvement, and delivering measurable results in both financial and environmental performance. With a balance of commercial acumen and technical expertise, this individual will be capable of steering the business through its next phase of growth while maintaining its reputation as a trusted sustainability leader in Western Australia.
