About the company:
This global organisation is well-known within the food manufacturing industry and are located in Harvey, WA. They are currently seeking a laboratory assistant to join their team, on an 6 monthcontract role with a strong view to extend.

About the role:
As a laboratory assistant you will perform timely and accurate preparation and testing of samples and record and communicate the results, to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory and an outstanding level of internal and external customer satisfaction.

Reporting to the Quality Coordinator, your responsibilities may include

• Remove general and microbiological waste in the laboratory, pH testing area and retention room of Juice and Dairy plants.
• Take pallet waste to PDU and put a new empty pallet for lab waste.
• Put pallet full of crates for use of laboratory and pH testing area.
• Sterility testing of ESL and UHT products in accordance to the sampling plan.
• Report to Data Entry personnel for any test failures.
• Attend to QA or Laboratory request.
• Transfer and organise ESL and UHT retention samples daily, to its respective storage rooms (ESLproducts to refrigerated room; UHT products to ambient room). For ESL samples, ensure the samplesare in order by the required time.
• Remove ESL and UHT retention samples due for testing and give back to the laboratory.
• Organise ESL and UHT retention storage rooms, ensuring the area is clean and tidy at all times.
• Remove old SLV products in the back Coolroom – re-confirm this with the laboratory/laboratory
coordinator prior to take out samples (monthly).
• Place Juice retention samples on shelves. Ensure these are in order by BB/UBD (weekly). Notify QA
office before travelling to the juice factory.
• Remove juice shelf-life samples and test for sensory (weekly).
• Organise receivables for lab/QA if any. Notify Quality Coordinator for any arrivals or if unsure.
• Data entry and other administrative work.
• Assist in basic laboratory testing, as needed

About you:

• A Bachelor of Science (majoring in Food Science, Chemistry or closely related discipline) or Certificate or Diploma in a relevant discipline is highly regarded
• Detailed understanding of HACCP and the ability to perform basic laboratory analysis
• Reliable and good work ethic
• Great attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
