About the Role
The Practice Nurse plays a critical role in supporting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by delivering culturally safe, comprehensive, and patient-centred care. This position involves both clinic-based responsibilities and regular outreach services, including home visits and participation in mobile outreach clinics via the outreach bus.
The nurse works collaboratively with General Practitioner (GPs), Aboriginal Health Workers (AHWs), and other healthcare team members to improve access to care, manage chronic disease, and support prevention and health promotion. Managing recalls and follow-ups is a key part of ensuring continuity of care and timely intervention.
About You
To excel in this position, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
Current registration as Registered Nurse with AHPRA and have a minimum of 3 year’s experience.
Current accreditation as a Nurse Immuniser.
Experience in primary health care, community health, or chronic disease management.
Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and a commitment to culturally safe and respectful practice.
Competence in immunisation administration and managing recalls.
Knowledge of cold chain management and infection prevention and control.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Willingness to travel for outreach services (home visits and GP bus).
What We Offer:
Salary packaging of $15,900 available for Part- or Full-time employees.
