Strategic Project Delivery (SPD) is a Queensland-based, family-owned project delivery business specialising in renewable energy, water, and infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand.

We are fully ISO-accredited in Quality, Safety, and Environment and have successfully delivered large-scale Solar, Wind, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects for leading developers, EPC contractors, in Tier 1, Tier 2 levels.

SPD has a strong in-house design and engineering capability and is expanding its self-performing delivery model. This role supports our continued growth in civil design and drafting for renewable-energy and infrastructure projects nationwide.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer / Draftsperson with proven experience in renewable energy projects, bulk earthworks, and FRP structural design.

You’ll work alongside our multidisciplinary engineering and project-management team to develop complete civil design packages for Solar, Wind, and BESS developments. This is an opportunity to influence design standards, mentor others, and contribute to SPD’s growing design capability.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed civil design drawings, including site layouts, grading, bulk-earthworks models, drainage, access roads, and hardstand areas.

Support the design of foundations, footings, structures for switchrooms, inverter stations, and ancillary assets.

Work collaboratively with the electrical and structural teams to produce coordinated multidisciplinary design packages.

Interpret geotechnical data, survey inputs, and client specifications to deliver cost-effective and constructible designs.

Assist in the preparation of design documentation, technical reports, and as-built drawings.

Contribute to SPD’s development of 3D design standards and modelling workflows across major infrastructure projects.

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Drafting (or equivalent).

Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil design or drafting for infrastructure or renewable-energy projects.

Strong understanding of bulk-earthworks design, stormwater drainage, and civil structures.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related drafting software (12D experience highly regarded).

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and geotechnical data.

High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes within project timelines.

Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
