We are seeking two Senior Policy Procedure and Training Officers, where you will be instrumental in shaping our operational excellence

These ongoing hybrid roles at The Administrative Review Tribunal can be located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney.

This position is available primarily on a full-time ongoing basis however non-ongoing can also be considered.

Remuneration: The annual salary range for the position is APS6: $94,563 - $106,394 p.a., plus a generous employer superannuation contribution of 15.4%.

About the opportunity

Reporting to an Assistant Director, you will work as part of a growing team that is spread across the country and is responsible for ensuring that review-related policies, procedures and training materials are available to support staff and members of the Tribunal in conducting merits review.

The work of the section is divided into policy, procedures and templates, and training portfolios, with Senior Policy Procedures and Training Officers assigned to work across 1-2 portfolios in response to operational need. The Tribunal is currently looking for strong communicators to begin working in the following areas:

  • Procedures and templates portfolio, to coordinate, develop and maintain the Tribunal’s review-related internal procedures, user-facing forms and letter templates.
  • Training portfolio, to develop and deliver training and other learning materials to support staff and members in undertaking their day-to-day responsibilities. Material may be delivered online or in print, as well as through eLearning modules and training videos.

In all portfolios, the role will require you to interpret and apply legislation and policy, identify and suggest solutions to issues, and work closely with subject matter experts and other key internal stakeholders.

About you:

To be successful you will:

  • Be a problem solver who is curious and enjoys research.
  • Have experience in, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, case management functions and/or registry operations generally.
  • Have the ability to write, design and build procedures and/or associated learning materials.
  • Be a capable negotiator who enjoys learning about new systems and the process of change.
  • Have the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships, working as part of a team to problem-solve through capable communication and negotiation with stakeholders.
  • Be able to demonstrate experience in managing complex projects, delivering results on time and to a high standard.

Essential:

  • The Tribunal requires Australian Citizenship as a condition of engagement.
  • All employees are required to undertake an Australian Federal Police Check and complete a health declaration.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications or experience relevant to the key responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience developing learning materials, including proficiency in the use of eLearn or video editing tools.

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) conducts independent merits review of administrative decisions made under Commonwealth laws. We review decisions made by Australian Government ministers, departments and agencies and, in limited circumstances, decisions made by state government and non-government bodies. We also review decisions made under Norfolk Island laws.

The AAT was established by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975 and commenced operations on 1 July 1976.
