Senior Veterinary Officer (APS6/VO2)

Tenure: 12-month non-ongoing contract, immediate start
Salary: $102,965 - $134,518

We are seeking a Senior Veterinary Officer to support high-profile market access and trade policy activities related to the export of red meat and dairy within the federal government.

About the Role:
This role involves negotiating technical standards and conditions with trading partners to maintain, improve, or develop export market access for meat, fish, dairy, eggs, animal by-products, and other goods. You will contribute to policy development, provide technical expertise, and support international trade and food standards initiatives.

About You:
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex and technical issues to a range of audiences;
• High attention to detail;
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
• Strong skills in managing competing priorities within timeframes;
• Tertiary education in a related field (e.g., biological sciences, veterinary medicine);
• Confidence in using Microsoft Office;
• Australian citizenship.

Highly regarded:

• Experience in an agricultural or rural setting.
• Government experience.
• Demonstrated interest in international relations or foreign policy.
