Faith Lutheran College Plainland is seeking a qualified and compassionate College Counsellor to join our Secondary School team. This vital role supports the emotional, social, and psychological wellbeing of students through professional counselling, proactive wellbeing programs, and collaborative support strategies.
As part of our commitment to holistic education, the College Counsellor also serves as the Child Safety Delegate, providing leadership in student protection, critical incident response, and risk management.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Head of Student Life, with responsibilities that include tasks as reasonably directed to meet emerging student wellbeing needs.

Key Responsibilities
Provide confidential counselling to students.
Lead wellbeing initiatives and mental health programs.
Collaborate with families, staff, and external agencies.
Respond to student protection concerns and critical incidents.
Maintain compliance with child safety and reporting obligations.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or related field.
Registration with a professional body (e.g. AHPRA, ACA, PACFA, AASW).
Experience supporting children/adolescents in school or youth settings.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and child development.
Desirable:
Master’s qualification.
Experience in wellbeing program delivery.
Familiarity with school systems and student management software.
Willingness to support the Christian ethos of the College.
