About the Role

As a Psychologist with Student Support Services (SSS), working in our Horsham Office you will provide comprehensive psychological services to schools, supporting the learning, development and wellbeing of children and young people. Your work will address a wide range of areas, including learning and cognitive challenges, behavioural issues, disabilities, mental health, school and work transitions, self-esteem, grief and loss, trauma, anger management, relationships, conflict, sexuality, and drug or alcohol involvement.

In this role, you will provide high level psychological support to school aged students, undertake advanced wellbeing interventions, and assist in coordinating student support services within a multidisciplinary team. You will contribute to the development of student wellbeing policies, provide authoritative professional advice, and support teachers in designing educational programs for students with additional needs.

The successful Psychologist will bring specialist expertise in supporting the educational, developmental and wellbeing needs of students, with a strong understanding of student wellbeing, disability inclusion and evidence-based interventions. You will have excellent consultation, communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to work collaboratively with schools, families and multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic support. Experience in program development, policy implementation and critical incident response is highly regarded, along with the ability to work flexibly, respond to emerging needs, and take initiative in a front-line service environment. Exceptional planning and organisational skills, combined with a commitment to improving student outcomes, will be key to success in this role.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A graduate or post-graduate degree in Speech Pathology.
• A valid Working with Children Check and full Drivers' License is required for this position.
• Ability to work flexibly, as Student Support Services is a front-line service requiring rapid response.

Within this structure, Student Support Services (SSS) bring together allied health professionals including psychologists, speech pathologists, social workers, occupational therapists and behaviour analysts to support the learning, health and wellbeing of children and young people.

SSS play a vital role in reducing barriers to learning and improving educational outcomes, particularly for vulnerable students. Working as part of area based multidisciplinary teams, SSS partner with schools to deliver consultation, assessment, intervention and capability building through a multi-tiered system of support at individual, group, school and network levels.
