About your new employer!
This NSW Government agency is responsible for delivering critical road and transport infrastructure that connects communities across the state. The Riverina West Works Centre plays a key role in maintaining regional assets and ensuring the safe, efficient delivery of essential infrastructure throughout western NSW.
About your new role!
As a Project Engineer based in Hay, you’ll take ownership of delivering maintenance and minor works projects across the Riverina West region.
This is a hands-on, site-based role — managing works programs, coordinating crews, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and to Transport for NSW standards.
There are two roles available — a short-term (5 weeks) and a longer-term contract (until January 2026), both critical to maintaining network reliability and supporting ongoing infrastructure works.
Key tasks for this role include:
- Managing delivery of maintenance and rehabilitation projects across the Riverina West region
- Coordinating six maintenance crews, with two direct Work Supervisors (approx. 30+ indirect staff)
- Programming and overseeing works such as heavy patching, shoulder grading and roadside vegetation control
- Managing budgets (projects valued between $5–10M) and ensuring compliance with WHS and quality standards
- Liaising with contractors, internal stakeholders, and delivery teams to resolve issues and maintain workflow
- Contributing to the delivery of RMAP (Regional Maintenance and Asset Program) outcomes
About You!
We’re looking for experienced civil engineers who thrive in regional environments and enjoy managing teams and technical outcomes directly on site.
You’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering civil or infrastructure projects (short-term role)
- 8–10 years’ experience for the long-term contract
- Proven background in maintenance or road infrastructure delivery
- Experience within state or local government (highly regarded)
- White Card (mandatory) and willingness to obtain Worksite Traffic Controller/WOF certification (self-funded)
- Full NSW Driver’s Licence (vehicle provided for work travel)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership skills
