About the Role
A prominent Federal Government agency is seeking an experienced APS6 People Policy and Workplace Relations Officer to join a collaborative and fast-paced team driving enterprise-level HR initiatives and workplace reform.
Working under limited direction, this role will contribute to the development and implementation of people policies, support enterprise agreement interpretation, and provide high-quality advice across a range of employee relations matters.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and policy savvy HR professional who is passionate about improving workplace culture, supporting strategic change, and building capability within the public sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply employment legislation, policies, and enterprise agreement provisions
  • Develop and review employment policies, procedures, and delegations
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to managers and staff on HR and workplace relations matters
  • Support the delivery of strategic HR initiatives and business process improvements
  • Prepare high-quality written materials, including policy documents, briefs, and reports
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across internal and external networks
  • Contribute to project coordination and implementation of HR programs
  • Monitor emerging workplace relations issues and support risk management activities

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Sound understanding of Australian employment law and APS employment frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in HR policy development and employee relations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret complex legislation and translate into practical guidance
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence at all levels
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR information systems
