CNC Operator & Leading Hand CNC Operator – Roller Spindle Manufacturing
About the company
This Australian manufacturer supplies precision conveyor components to the mining and bulk materials sector. The business is well established but not standing still — it’s currently implementing Lean manufacturing initiatives to improve layout, workflow and efficiency across the workshop. Alongside process upgrades, the company has recently added a new DMG Mori NZX 2000 : 800 to complement its existing Mori Seiki ZT1500YB and NZ2000 lathes (Fanuc MSX-501-III controls).
It’s a clean, organised and safety-driven environment with a practical approach to improvement and quality.
About the roles
We have two opportunities within the roller spindle section — one for an experienced CNC Operator, and another for a Leading Hand CNC Operator to oversee the area.
The team machines the precision spindles used in conveyor rollers, producing components to tight tolerances on Mori Seiki lathes. The equipment is proven but occasionally temperamental, so we’re looking for operators with patience, mechanical sense and a steady approach to problem solving.
Key tasks
Program, set and operate Mori Seiki ZT1500YB / NZ2000 (Fanuc MSX-501-III controls)
Work to engineering drawings and inspect parts using gauges and micrometers
Adjust tooling, offsets and feeds during runs
Contribute to Lean and process-improvement initiatives
(Leading Hand) Coordinate daily workflow, support operators and assist with introduction of the new DMG Mori NZX 2000 : 800
What we’re looking for
Trade-qualified Fitter & Turner / Machinist
Proven CNC experience on lathes (Mori Seiki, Mazak, Okuma or similar)
Confident with Fanuc or MSX controls
Methodical, calm temperament and attention to detail
Interest in continuous improvement and efficient workshop practices
(Leading Hand) Previous leadership or team-coordination experience
The offer
Pay rate: Day Shift - $52.42/hr (Operator) or $57.89/hr (Leading Hand) + penalties
Bonus - $2.25ph based on achievement of DIFOT
Overtime: Regular 5–10 hours per week available
Employment type: Ongoing temp-to-perm opportunity
Location: Bayswater workshop with free on-site parking
