SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator, committed to delivering better safety outcomes for workers and communities. This role sits within the Policy, Practice and Programs Directorate, leading a team in the Policy unit.
About the Role
As a Policy Manager you will lead the development and delivery of legislative and non-legislative policy reform projects that shape the future of workplace safety in NSW. You'll work closely with the SafeWork NSW Executive and a variety of stakeholders to respond to emerging harms and design regulatory frameworks at both state and national levels.
Your Day-to-Day Will Include:
- Leading research and review of complex policy and legislative reform issues
- Providing expert advice across government, including interjurisdictional collaboration under model WHS laws
- Coordinating stakeholder consultation and negotiation on reform initiatives
- Overseeing the preparation of reports, briefs and correspondence for senior leadership and government
- Managing people and resources to deliver high-impact policy outcomes
- Staying ahead of industry trends, regulatory obligations and emerging risks
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in legislative reform, including drafting and consultation processes
- An understanding of intergovernmental arrangements and model/uniform legislative frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to operationalise policy in regulatory or government settings
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to manage a variety of competing priorities and deliver under pressure
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience
- Commitment to public sector values and ethical leadership
