Join our dairy farm located on the picturesque Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland. We are known for our commitment to excellence in dairy farming, animal care, and sustainable practices. We are currently seeking a skilled Dairy Cattle Farmer to become a valued member of our team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to the success of our thriving dairy operation.
This exciting role uses your practical farming skills and knowledge to meet milk harvesting duties and ensure the health hand productivity of the dairy herd. This position includes farm maintenance, crop and irrigation work, as well as teaching and guiding dairy farm hands and reporting to management. This busy role is offered on a full time ongoing basis with a rotating roster which operates across the week.
Location - Kenilworth QLD
Reporting to the Farm Manager, responsibilities will include (but are not limited to:)
• Cattle calving and helping maintain health of the cattle.
• Feeding out to cattle and providing balanced nutrition for milk production and health
• Milking on a regular basis and operating the computer equipment at the rotary.
• Herd record keeping and putting in data to make informed decisions about breeding, culling and overall herd management.
• Maintaining farm equipment.
• Adhering to all regulations related to dairy Farming.
• Implementing farming practice to minimise impact on the land and environment.
• Ongoing self-development by attending short courses (online or face-to-face) in dairy as relevant to farm requirements.
• Works with others to develop their skills and knowledge
To be successfully considered for interview we expect see
• Bachelor's degree or close substitute as agreed
• At least 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in dairy farming.
• Thorough understanding of dairy herd management, health, and nutrition.
• Knowledge of milking procedures and equipment operation.
• Strong record-keeping skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for animal welfare.
• Unrestricted working rights in Australia
