The Centre for Learning and Teaching
The Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) contributes to the leadership and implementation of strategic teaching and learning and change across the University through collaborative partnerships with Schools and Service Centres. CLT provisions professional learning for all teaching roles in the University to promote evidenced based and scholarly practice.
Additionally, CLT leads the implementation of learning technologies across the University, delivery of learning support programs for students, and active support of Schools to deliver best practice curriculum design and assessment.
About the Opportunity
The Senior Learning Adviser is an exciting role that will lead academic preparedness activities for students commencing in courses that are part of ECU’s Curriculum Transformation Program. This program will deliver a shift to programmatic learning approaches across the institution. It is a step-change to the way ECU courses are designed, delivered and assessed, the way ECU staff engage with students, and the way students manage their learning.
The role will lead the development of programs and resources that support students to succeed academically in programmatic learning environments. This includes building core academic literacies and capabilities such as self-regulation, feedback literacy, critical thinking, AI literacy, and communication skills. Programs will include both in-curricular and extracurricular resources, ensuring that all ECU students are provided with high quality learning support services that empower them to succeed.
The role will work collaboratively with other Senior Learning Advisers, Student Life staff, Librarians, students, academics, and other key stakeholders in the design and implementation of fit-for-purpose learning support programs. Extracurricular support for academic success in programmatic learning (e.g. self-access resources, workshops) will be broadly applicable to all students, and in-curriculum support will be embedded and contextualised to different disciplinary needs in partnership with academics and Senior Learning Advisers.
About you
The successful applicants will possess the following capabilities:
- A graduate qualification in Education, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
- Demonstrated experience in leading learning support programs in a higher education environment;
- Demonstrated experience in supporting student skills development, including academic literacies and other forms of learning support;
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience supporting people of diverse cultural backgrounds
- A highly collaborative approach with a record of having achieved significant goals through teamwork
