The Role
The Executive Manager Family Services and Out of Home Care provides strategic and operational leadership across Family Services and Out of Home Care programs. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of culturally safe, trauma-informed services for Aboriginal children, young people, and families. The Executive Manager leads teams in the areas such Family Services, early years and Out of Home Care services to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for children and young people in care. The role drives continuous improvement, fosters community engagement, and ensures alignment with funding priorities and legislative requirements, supporting the Wathaurong Aboriginal Cooperative’s commitment to strengthening families and supporting children in safe, nurturing environments.
About you
This is a special measures role and only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples are eligible to apply.
Extensive senior management or executive leadership experience in community, cultural services, or child protection.
Experience working within the Child Protection and or Out of Home Care sector.
Experience working in a service delivery setting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (preferred) or culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Experience in the leadership, coaching, and performance management of senior professionals and specialists.
Postgraduate level qualification (preferred) in a relevant discipline including leadership, community services, psychology, or social services.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence and negotiate organisational decision making.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop positive stakeholder relationships and communicate with diverse individuals at all levels.
Ability to demonstrate resilience and meet targets and objectives within a fast-paced, pressured environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write and present professional documents to professional and community audiences.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as part of a senior leadership team.
Demonstrated experience in leading large teams through change.
Knowledge of safe and appropriate culturally centred practices for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander focused services, including employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
Demonstrated understanding of social, physical, economic, and cultural strengths and challenges affecting Aboriginal communities and their ability to access adequate and quality services.
Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture.
Desirable
Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
