About the Business Unit:

The Historical Forced Adoptions Redress Scheme provides financial redress and support to the many mothers who continue to live with the serious, complex and ongoing effects of their experience of forced separation. Establishment of the scheme delivers on a key recommendation of the Inquiry into Responses to Historical Forced Adoptions in Victoria.

The Scheme is operated out of the Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) unit, which is part of the Police, Victims, Racing and Coordination Group within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). VSSR is responsible for the delivery and reform of services to victims of crime, placing victims at the centre of the justice system.

About the Role:

The Team Leader, Support Services reports to the Senior Manager, Historic Forced Adoptions and has line management responsibility for a case management team.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Providing advice, strategic direction, and mentoring to case management staff to ensure consistent, integrated, and participant-centred support
  • Monitoring workloads and allocate/reallocate cases based on complexity, priority, and case manager capabilities
  • Developing and implementing guidelines, SOPs, and resources, identifying and addressing practice or operational policy gaps
  • Conducting regular staff wellbeing check-ins, manage PDPs, payroll approvals, and other administrative duties.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Extensive experience in team leadership, practice development, and complex case management within social services or a trauma recovery context
  • A strong ability to deliver strengths-based supervision
  • A strong ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members, fostering a cohesive, supportive environment.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A qualification or relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: in social work, psychology, social sciences, or related fields.
  • Previous experience in supervising and developing staff, and a commitment to working collaboratively and promoting a positive team culture.
