We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Specialist.
This is a part-time role – 2 days per week (16 hours).
Exceptional and unique opportunity to be part of an outstanding team. Join us as a Business Development Specialist and help build our theatre capacity.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a BDS to build strong relationships with surgeons and healthcare providers, focusing on:
Dermatologists performing skin lesion excisions under Sedation/GA.
Plastic surgeons requiring day surgery access.
Expanding IVF usage (partnering with Melbourne IVF).
Select opportunities with podiatric or cosmetic surgeons (where appropriate).
We are seeking a strategic thinker to make a valuable contribution to our team with expertise in Healthcare and Operating theatre within the private hospital sector. This position involves driving growth, building and nurturing key relationships, and expanding our Theatre operating services. About You
• Proven experience in healthcare business development, medical devices, or hospital/day surgery sales.
• Strong existing network in dermatology, plastic surgery, or IVF is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset – motivated by results and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Identifying and implementing business growth opportunities in alignment with our strategic plans. Develop tailored engagement strategies to secure new surgical lists.
• Developing and executing a targeted Business Development Plan to support operating theatre utilisation and growth. Identify and approach surgeons, clinics, and partners to increase theatre utilisation.
• Strengthening relationships with operational leaders and medical specialists to drive engagement. • Growing referral networks through strategic engagement with VMOs.
• Responsible for securing new business.
• Undertake face to face meetings, visits and remote meetings via online conferencing platforms.
• Prepare and conduct presentations to key clients/contacts/interested parties.
• Negotiate theatre hire agreements and scheduling
• Track KPIs and report progress directly to management
• Strong knowledge of the private hospital sector, medical specialist practices, and referral pathways. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in healthcare business growth and strategic planning, along with exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
Essential criteria:
Tertiary qualification in Health, Marketing or relevant specialty.
Full working rights in Australia.
Commitment to quality services and care.
Highly driven, with the ability to consistently meet and exceed targets. Be able to plan and manage your own appointments and schedules.
Works well independently and within a team.
Current Police check.
• Base salary $40,000 + super
• Performance bonuses linked to new surgeon onboarding and increased theatre lists
