About The Role

As a Child Wellbeing Intake and Assessment Practitioner, you’ll be the first person families meet when they reach out for help - whether they’re facing family violence, complex challenges, or just need support. You’ll listen, assess, and guide people towards the right services, making sure they feel heard and supported from the very start.

You’ll work alongside a dedicated, multidisciplinary team, sharing insights and collaborating to find the best outcomes for each family. This role is based primarily in Frankston. This is a full-time role for 12 months due to parental leave absence, offering you the chance to make a real impact and be part of an integrated service approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening, triage, assessment, crisis response, and service planning for families and children, using contemporary risk assessment tools
  • Work collaboratively within the Orange Door multidisciplinary team to identify and prioritise risk, and deliver integrated support
  • Identify when a Central Information Point (CIP) request is required
  • Apply for brokerage on behalf of clients in accordance with Brokerage Guidelines
  • Provide services via phone, in-person, and outreach, ensuring accurate client records (CRM) and compliance with Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS)
  • Refer clients to specialist practitioners or services as needed
  • Participate in training, supervision, and contribute to continuous improvement of service delivery

About you

  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience within Women and Children’s Family Violence Services, Integrated Family Services, Men’s Referral Services, DHHS Child Protection and/or Aboriginal Community Service Organisations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the diverse range of referral and support options available to women and children who have experienced family violence, vulnerable families presenting with complex needs and perpetrators of family violence
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Best Interest Principles and cultural safety requirements, and can develop action plans with clients
  • You are committed to inclusive, client-centred practice and continuous professional development

Family Violence Minimum Mandatory Qualifications under Recommendation 209

As per the minimum mandatory qualifications requirements via https://www.vic.gov.au/mandatory-minimum-qualifications-specialist-family-violence-practitioners

All candidates wishing to apply for this role must be able to demonstrate that they:

  1. are considered EXEMPT under the policy OR
  2. hold a Bachelor of Social Work or other equivalent qualification OR
  3. have minimum 5 years relevant professional experience, OR a related qualification as per the mandatory minimum qualification requirements. OR
  4. hold significant cultural knowledge and experience or lived experience, and have faced barriers to educational pathways

Please note that candidates wishing to enter the specialist family violence workforce via a related qualification or 5 years related professional experience pathway, OR the significant cultural knowledge and experience or lived experience pathways will be required to work towards an equivalent qualification within specified timeframes (as per the mandatory minimum qualifications policy).
