About the role
The Library and Archives Officer is the first point of contact within the RACGP Library & Archives, supporting both library and archival services. This role manages enquiries and requests, supports access to physical and online collections, maintains cataloguing and loans services, and contributes to archival operations, including compliance, digitisation, and historical research.
The role ensures members, staff, and external stakeholders can access library and archival resources efficiently, securely, and in line with regulatory frameworks, while also contributing to the preservation of RACGP's historical and professional legacy.
As Library and Archives Officer you'll:
- Manage the Library's loans, enquiries, and inter-library loans service
- Catalogue, process, and maintain library resources to the highest standards
- Assist with reference and information retrieval, including complex database searching
- Maintain a compliant retention and disposal program for the RACGP's archives
- Conduct historical research and provide archival information and access in a secure and compliant manner
Skills & Experience
- Recognised library qualification (Australian Library and Information Association accredited) and/or a tertiary qualification in archival science, curating, or information management
- Previous work experience in archives, library services, curating, or information management.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of library management systems and/or Electronic Document Records Management Systems (EDRMS).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
