MyCDP support the Remote Australia Employment Services (RAES) program as well as other community-based programs servicing Ngukurr, Numbulwar, Minyerri, Jilkminggan and Mataranka in the Northern Territory.

We are seeking to engage a full time Accounting Manager to join our highly performing and motivated team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

The role will be based in our Cairns office, and you will be required to provide reports on key financial data to provide the financial information needs of the Company, including: providing financial planning, budgeting, risk management, cash flow analysis, and management reporting that identifies ways to manage costs efficiently in line with accounting principles and practices.

The successful candidate will need to have knowledge and experience working within remote indigenous communities.

Your duties will include:

Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly management reports to senior management; provide advice on variances and explore/clarify potential problems with management

Provide analysis and commentary for the financial and management reports

Prepare and submit statutory returns

Conduct meetings and report to management on financial matters

Provide appropriate leadership, guidance, coaching and support to team members and other staff throughout the organization

Provide training to new and existing staff as needed

Work with direct reports to establish goals and objectives for each year, and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff

Prepare cash flow statements, income and expenditure accounts, and tax returns

Plan projects exploring potential problems or opportunities, ensuring that resources and staff are available to execute the project

Maintain financial accounts and general ledger system

Coordinate budgeting process

Ensure compliance with appropriate legislation, codes, policies and procedures

Provide advice and recommendations on changes to legislation, taxation and accounting standards

Establish and maintain effective financial controls and systems, including Bank reconciliations, Debtor reconciliations, Creditor reconciliations, Stock takes, General ledger balancing, Internal charging, Control accounts, Suspense accounts and Period-end and year-end processes.

Ensure the security and integrity of systems and processes, and that the required audit trails are in place

To be considered for this role, you will meet the following criteria:

Qualifications:

Degree in Business, Commerce, Accountancy or related discipline

Experience:

Significant experience with financial systems, including Xero.

Experience forecasting, budgeting and analyzing financials

Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team

Experience planning, budgeting and forecasting

Competencies (knowledge, skills and behaviors):

Ability to Analyse, interpret, reconcile and communicate financial information

Ability to plan and coordinate activities; prioritize, monitor and evaluate workflows; and continually assess and improve effectiveness of financial processes

High-level written and verbal communication skills

Interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with people at all levels

In-depth knowledge of, and skills using, computer-based office systems, including word processing, spreadsheet and database software

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills allied to practical judgement

Obtain a national police clearance

Obtain an Ochre card
