Are you a hospitality pro with a passion for Tex-Mex, top-notch service, and keeping the good vibes flowing? Cactus Jack’s, one of Townsville’s busiest and most iconic bar and grill, is on the lookout for a hands-on Assistant Manager to help lead our energetic team and keep things running smoothly, both front and back of house.

Cactus Jack’s is a lively, high-volume Tex-Mex bar and grill known for our legendary fajitas, bold cocktails, and buzzing atmosphere. We pride ourselves on great food, cold drinks and warm, unforgettable service.

As Assistant Manager, you’ll work side-by-side with the Venue Manager to oversee the daily operations of the venue. This role is very hands-on, expect to be on your feet, in the thick of service, managing staff, supporting customers, and keeping the energy high.

You’ll be responsible for:

Overseeing smooth table and bar service during busy shifts

Leading and motivating a dynamic FOH team

Managing customer flow and ensuring exceptional guest experiences

Assisting with rostering, stock control, and venue presentation

Training and mentoring junior staff

Maintaining high standards of compliance, cleanliness, and safety

What You’ll Bring:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar hospitality management or supervisory role

Strong experience in both table service and bar service

Natural leadership with a proactive, can-do attitude

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume venue

RSA certification (essential)

Availability to work nights, weekends, and public holidays
