The weather’s warming up and the silly season is fast approaching – and The Normanby Hotel is on the lookout for an experienced, passionate Assistant Manager to join our leadership team full-time.

We’re looking for a natural-born leader, a true people person who thrives in a busy, high-energy environment and has a love for hospitality, especially in food, beverage, gaming and TAB.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Venue Manager, you’ll assist in leading the team through high-volume service periods while always maintaining top-tier customer service. You’ll be involved in all aspects of the venue’s operations, from compliance and procedures to hands-on leadership and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and support the team across all areas of the venue

Lead from the front and inspire a positive team culture

Communicate and implement venue policies and procedures

Ensure compliance with health, safety and liquor licensing regulations

Maintain efficient reporting and operational procedures

Operate with a controlled sense of urgency under pressure

Strive to deliver the best possible customer experience

Be available for a full-time rotating roster, including nights and weekends

About You

Proven experience in a similar Assistant Manager or Duty Manager role

Strong hospitality background in food, beverage, gaming, and service

Confident and clear communicator with leadership presence

Ability to stay calm, think on your feet, and solve problems quickly

Driven to exceed targets and deliver results

A team player with a can-do attitude and passion for hospitality
