As a start-up with strong ambitions for rapid growth, we are seeking a results-driven, operationally savvy, and client-focused professional to lead our Melbourne office. This is a unique opportunity to play a foundational role in building and scaling the business.

Position Overview

The Operations & Sales Manager will be instrumental in establishing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the consultancy, while also taking ownership of sales performance and revenue growth. This dual-focused role requires someone who is both an effective team leader and a commercially minded strategist with a strong understanding of the education and migration sectors.

You will manage staff, optimize internal processes, ensure legal and regulatory compliance, and lead efforts to attract new clients, convert leads, and improve service delivery — ultimately contributing to the financial strength and sustainability of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management
Oversee all aspects of daily operations to ensure efficient workflows, service excellence, and a positive client experience.

Sales Leadership & Business Development
Drive client acquisition and revenue growth by setting sales targets, developing outreach strategies, converting leads, and monitoring performance. Collaborate with marketing and service teams to optimize lead generation and conversion.

Financial Oversight
Develop and manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-control strategies to ensure strong financial health.

Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing team. Set clear KPIs, provide coaching, and foster a collaborative and accountable workplace culture.

Process Improvement
Continuously evaluate and enhance business processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and service quality.

Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure the office adheres to all applicable industry regulations, company policies, and legal standards, including those related to education and migration services.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, education providers, and other stakeholders. Act on feedback to enhance service offerings.

Strategic Planning & Growth
Work with the leadership team to set and execute strategic goals aligned with the company’s vision for growth and market positioning.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Proven experience in a similar operations or management role, ideally in the education or migration consultancy sectors.

Strong background in sales management, with demonstrated success in driving client acquisition and revenue growth.

Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Solid understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and business planning.

Ability to work autonomously in a start-up environment and adapt quickly as the business scales.

Deep knowledge of industry compliance, particularly in the Australian education and migration sectors.

MARA Registration (Migration Agents Registration Number – MARN) -NOT compulsory but is preferred and highly desirable.

Degree in Business, Operations Management, International Education, or a related field.
