About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Officer – Chemical Analysis to join our specialist team. You will be working in a modern laboratory environment using advanced techniques such as chromatography and mass spectrometry to assess chemical exposure risks in the workplace.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your scientific expertise to support regulatory activities, influence safety policy, and help create safer working environments across the state.
What You'll Do
- Conduct high-quality chemical analyses on workplace samples.
- Develop new testing methods to assess occupational exposure.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and scientific advice for internal and external stakeholders.
- Calibrate and maintain analytical equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Collaborate with inspectors, scientists, and safety specialists.
- Represent the team on state and national technical committees.
- Contribute to research and policy development on emerging WHS issues.
About You
- A relevant qualification in chemistry, science, or a related field.
- Experience using instrumental analysis techniques (e.g., GC/MS, HPLC).
- A proactive, collaborative approach to work and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental monitoring will be highly regarded.
