About us
We're on a mission to create a brighter future, where you can be a change maker at the actual source. We're one of Australia's largest water utilities with over 30% of Victoria's population relying on us for their essential water and sanitation services.

Our award-winning culture fosters an inclusive, collaborative, and flexible environment that enables our people to thrive. Here, you'll be inspired and challenged to grow alongside us.

We're committed to reconciliation and supporting the self-determined role for Traditional Owners/Custodians in water and land management.

The Role
Are you an experienced planner ready to help shape the future of essential sewerage and alternate water services for our community? We're looking for a Senior Investment Planner to join our team and play a vital role in turning long-term vision into actionable plans.

In this role, you will be a key driver in developing integrated and adaptive serving strategies and investment plans that align with our strategic goals. You'll translate high-level aspirations, risks, and opportunities into adaptive, sequenced pathways for service evolution. Your work will ensure we are always prepared to make timely, data-driven decisions that lead to resilient, future-focused outcomes for our community. This position is perfect for someone who excels at collaboration and is passionate about building sustainable solutions that benefit everyone.

Your key responsibilities

  • Nurture long-term service and investment plans for our sewage and alternative water treatment plants and land, ensuring they're sustainable, adaptable, and aligned with community, environment and regulatory needs.
  • Bring together insights on population growth, climate change, regulation, and emerging treatment technology.
  • Develop capacity and performance plans for sewage and alternative water treatment, including setting design capacities, creating performance objectives and monitoring measures, and shaping upgrade strategies.
  • Collaborate with planners, operators, environmental experts, and community voices to weave diverse perspectives into planning.
  • Support improvements to the asset management framework and asset class plans to enhance planning, optimize performance, and ensure resilient service delivery.
  • Use data, evidence, and scenario tools to tell clear stories through compelling business cases and planning proposals.
  • Embed care for Country, Integrated Water Management, and circular economy thinking in everything you plan.
  • Stay open and adaptive, refining strategies as risks, opportunities, and community needs evolve.

What we're looking for

  • A big-picture thinker who enjoys bringing people together to shape practical, long-term strategies for complex systems.
  • Experience in asset or investment planning (ideally in the water sector or similar) with an interest in sewage and alternative water treatment plant futures.
  • Familiarity with planning approaches for treatment capacity, performance, and compliance, and how these link to environment, regulatory and community outcomes.
  • Comfort working with data and modelling tools, and using them to support clear, evidence-based decisions.
  • Clear communicator who can make complex ideas accessible and engaging for different audiences.
  • Naturally collaborative, with a track record of building respectful and trusted relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Flexible and resilient in the face of uncertainty, with a willingness to adapt and learn as things change.
  • Cultural awareness and competency, with a respectful approach to working alongside Traditional Custodians and embedding care for Country in planning.
