This is a 12-Month Recruitment Pool for casual appointments. Suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool.

The City of Melville’s MelSafe Community Safety Service is seeking Investigations Officers to lead compliance casework, follow-up investigations and more complex enquiries.

This role goes beyond patrol – you’ll focus on proactive investigations, enforcement actions and regulatory outcomes that require detailed case management. You’ll still be a visible presence in the community with a focus on building strong evidence and compliance.

Location: City of Melville Operations Centre

Salary: $55.08 - $58.41 per hour (incl 25% casual loading) + 12% Super

What You’ll Do

Conduct proactive patrols, inspections, and investigations across the City

Manage detailed, protracted casework and evidence collection

Enforce compliance with legislation (animal management, bushfire, parking, signage, litter, etc.)

Prepare reports, case notes, and prosecution briefs

Undertake enforcement actions including cautions, infringements, and directives

Seize and impound animals safely and lawfully

Represent the City in court or tribunal hearings

Engage the community through education and respectful communication

Support emergency response and incident management

What We’re Looking For

Current C Class Driver’s Licence

Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain

Extensive experience or qualifications in compliance, investigations, or local laws (ROCS 1 & 2)

Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and its application

Proactive approach to enforcement and problem-solving

Strong investigation, case management, and report-writing skills

Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution ability

(Desirable) Dangerous dog handling and court experience
