🌟 About the Role – Early Childhood Teacher (Preschool Room Leader)
As our Preschool Room Leader, you will take the lead in designing, implementing, and evaluating a high-quality, play-based, and inquiry-driven program that reflects the developmental needs, interests, and emerging skills of preschool-aged children.
You’ll be supported by a collaborative team and a Centre Director who values initiative, professionalism, and your voice as an educational leader.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Leadership & Program Delivery
Develop and deliver an engaging, child-led curriculum aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standard (NQS).
Lead intentional teaching practices and promote critical reflection within your team.
Plan for school readiness and transition, supporting children's confidence, independence, and social-emotional growth.
Document children's learning journeys thoughtfully, highlighting their strengths, ideas, and progress.
Team Collaboration & Mentorship
Mentor, guide, and support assistant educators to ensure consistent, high-quality practice.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and reflective team culture that encourages continuous learning and professional growth.
Contribute to team meetings, professional development, and the service’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
Relationships with Children and Families
Build trusting, respectful relationships that nurture each child's sense of belonging and wellbeing.
Partner with families through open, two-way communication—sharing learning stories, listening to feedback, and celebrating milestones.
Create a warm and welcoming environment that supports children's emotional security and curiosity.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure children's safety, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times.
Maintain high standards of health, hygiene, and supervision, including allergy and medical management.
Uphold all regulatory, ethical, and professional standards expected of an Early Childhood Teacher under the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
About You
Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) in Early Childhood Education and Care
(Highly experienced Diploma-qualified educators with 3+ years of leadership experience in ECEC will also be considered)
2+ years’ experience as a Room Leader or in a similar leadership role
Deep understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Standard (NQS), and child development principles
Passionate about leadership, mentoring, and making a meaningful difference in children’s lives
Reliable, professional, and collaborative — a true team player who values respect and reflection
Excellent communicator with warmth, clarity, and confidence in building relationships with children, families, and colleagues
Current Working With Children Check, First Aid, CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training
