Full time Salary Position (4.5-5 days per week) for an Experienced Chef or Cook available, or 1st year apprentice at Kirks on The Esplanade, an iconic venue on the Mornington Peninsula.
Availability on weekends and nights, along with experience is a must.
We are looking for a long term staff member, as we really value long-term employment and creating a strong, close-knit friendly team environment.
Applicants must currently live in Australia.
Responsibilities
-Prepare all items as per menu and customer needs along with seasoning food expertly to ensure consistency of flavour.
-Ensuring food handling and storage is in accordance with food handling regulations and is of the highest standard.
-Preparation and cooking of food in accordance with our menu, following recipes to ensure the high quality and consistency every time a meal is plated.
-Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements.
-Appropriate plating and apportioning of prepared meals and ensuring food presentation meets with the standard.
-Regulate the temperature of stoves and oven to ensure the dishes are cooked at appropriate levels and are not spoilt by the temperature being too hot or too cool for the recipe.
-Check food is stored and handled as per food health and hygiene regulations.
-Stock checking, including ordering, accepting food deliveries and ensuring the safe storage of products.
-Ensure that your work area, equipment and section are kept clean at all times, in accordance with health and hygiene, and strictly implementing our OH&S policies.
-Helping with planning of menu items and estimation of food requirements.
-Experience with wood fired pizza oven essential.
Skills and Qualifications
-Strong knowledge of cooking methods and operating kitchen tools and equipment.
-Ability to work full time.
-Flexible to work on a rotating roster.
